Success of the 3rd bibnet.lu Network Day at the BnL

Success for the 3rd bibnet.lu Network Day at the National Library of Luxembourg (BnL), a day dedicated to sharing knowledge and reflecting on best practices in library science.

The event opened with speeches by Minister for Culture Eric Thill, Director of the BnL Claude D. Conter, and Martine Mathay, Coordinator of the bibnet.lu library network. Sveinbjörg Sveinsdóttir, Director of the Icelandic Libraries Consortium, then introduced the consortium, drawing parallels with the bibnet.lu network and emphasising the shared vision of fostering dynamic library environments.

“Libraries are true palaces for citizens, open to all, where architecture and missions evolve with the user’s ever-changing expectations. In a world that is constantly transforming, libraries in our network strive to remain intuitive, inclusive, and always dedicated to serving their communities.”
– Sveinbjörg Sveinsdóttir

The afternoon was dedicated to thematic workshops focused on cataloging and optimising workflows. Participants also attended plenary sessions highlighting successful practices within libraries, followed by discussions on future challenges facing the network, including the automation of cataloging.

The event underscored the bibnet.lu network’s ongoing commitment to innovation, collaboration among libraries, and digital support.
