Johannes Neuer took office of the German National Library in Leipzig on 1 August 2023. The media and communication scientist succeeds Michael Fernau, who took up the post in 2008 and has now retired. Johannes Neuer brings experience of international librarianship coupled with competence in the areas of marketing and public relations to his new position. He is now one of the two permanent representatives of the German National Library’s Director General, Frank Scholze. He holds Leipzig in high regard as a city of trade fairs and music, and looks forward to exchanging ideas with other libraries and cultural stakeholders.
