Exhibition “Degas in black and white” presented at the BnF

Presenting prints, photographs, drawings and paintings through a chronological and themed itinerary, this exhibition offers a novel approach to Edgar Degas’ work by revealing his unkwoned interest for black and white.

Two unpublished pieces acquired by the BnF Prints and Photography Department in December 2022 are presented to the public for the first time. The exhibition also features 29 notebooks of drawings – rarely shown to the public – and the most representative set of photographic research made by Degas.

The CENL members attending the AGM in Paris were given a private tour of the exhibition “Degas in black and white”. It is opened from the 31st of May to the 3rd of September 2023 at the BnF Richelieu site.
