The map collection of the National Library of Estonia contains about 33,300 maps covering a period of five centuries. The library invites the wide public to check their homes or offices for any maps that are no longer needed, and to donate them to the library to help reduce the blank spots in history.
“United in Diversity”, № BGCULTURE-3.001-0044-C01, is a project that encourages a Bulgarian-Icelandic partnership between the National Library of Bulgaria and the Vigdís International Center for Multilingual and Intercultural Understanding at the University of Iceland. The joint efforts of the project participants aim to stimulate a dialogue between minority communities in Bulgaria. This project is financed with funds from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014–2021 under Programme PA14, “Cultural entrepreneurship, heritage, and cooperation,” Result 3, “Improved awareness of arts and culture of ethnic and cultural minorities (focus on Roma)”.
On February 14, the Republic of Moldova marks the National Reading Day; the celebration was launched in 2022, in the context of the International Day of Reading Together and of the anniversary of the Moldavian poet Grigore Vieru.
The BnF is hosting an exhibition, featuring over 240 pieces – manuscripts, printed books, prints, drawings, sculptures, coins, etc. – that take visitors deep into the world of the Renaissance humanists.
The House of European History (HEH) in Brussels and the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NULB&H) signed an agreement to extend the loan of a valuable exhibit from NULB&H, which has been included as part of the permanent exhibition of HEH since 2019. This exhibit consists of exhibits borrowed from museums, libraries, and archives from all over Europe, including exhibits from the Special Collections of the NUBBiH, which were exhibited for the first time in 2017.
On 22-25 February the National Library of Lithuania traditionally took part in the International Vilnius Book Fair, the largest Baltic literary festival. The event invited visitors to meetings with writers, book presentations, discussions, exhibitions, creative workshops, and other cultural activities. The National library presented a varied and rich programme.
The National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a literary meeting and gathering for children with BH writers for children and young people.
