After the completed procedure, the applications received and the candidates considered, the Commission for the Nomination of BH authors for ALMA 2024 met, and based on their decision, the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina nominated two prominent BH writers for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for 2024 and promoter of reading for children and young people.
The National Library welcomed three representatives of the Ukrainian Library Association who had been participating in the conference New Experience of Libraries in the Context of Environmental Change in Lithuania.

In 2009, the first Museum Night was organised in Estonia. Since then, this magic night has been celebrated every year on a Saturday evening in May when nearly two hundred museums and memory institutions across Estonia open their doors until late night. National Library of Estonia has taken part in this traditional event for many years already.
After a European tour through Brașov, Tirana, Brussels, Leskovac, and Veles, the exhibition “CAN for Balkans” arrives in Bucharest, in a suitable setting – in the Atrium of the National Library of Romania. Here, the initiators’ approach was completed with a representative selection of comic books dedicated to the subject, hold in the collections of our library.

On the 10th of May the American Space was opened at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. It was established by agreement between the National Library and the US Embassy in Lithuania. The purpose of this space is to introduce visitors to US literature, culture, economy and history, and to promote cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The exhibition Essence of a Typographer. Niclaes Mollijns: Riga-Antwerp (25 May – 28 June) tells the story about Niclaes Mollijns, an apprentice of eminent European printer Christoph Plantin, who arrived in Riga in 1588 heralded the start of a long-awaited printing business, not only in Riga, but in the whole of Livonia.
KBR preserves the oldest illustrated manuscript in Dutch, Jacob van Maerlant’s Rijmbijbel. Because of its famous author, luxurious character and artistic level of illumination, this 13th-century codex is among the international masterpieces of the Middle Ages. On the occasion of the publication of the book “De Rijmbijbel van Jacob van Maerlant: het oudste geïllustreerde handschrift in het Nederlands”, the manuscript is put on display at the KBR museum from 23 May.
