In 2022, the 8th Baku International Book Fair dedicated to the “Year of Shusha” was held in Baku from October 5 to 9, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the Baku Expo Center. At the events of the 8th Baku International Book Fair, the employees of the libraries of Albania, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, who came at the invitation of the National Library of Azerbaijan, represented their countries with an exposition. As part of the exhibition-fair, the National Library of Azerbaijan organized a series of events – the opening of the exhibition with the presentation of rare books on “Shusha historical documents (from the National Library’s fund)” and “Khurshidbanu Natavan – 190”; “We will revive you, Dear Shusha!” and the presentation of electronic databases called “Khurshidbanu Natavan”, as well as bibliography books “Shusha historical sources” and “Khurshidbanu Natavan” developed by the National Library of Azerbaijan; The ceremony of gifting the books displayed at the exhibition to the National Library of Azerbaijan by the libraries participating in the 8th Baku International Book Fair; In order to support the book collection campaign “Let’s go with a book to Karabakh”, a joint project of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Library, publishers organized a book donation ceremony.

At the same time, within the framework of the exhibition, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum on Mutual Cooperation between the National Library of Azerbaijan and the National Library of Albania and the opening of a permanent corner on Albania in the “Hall of International Cooperation” of the National Library of Azerbaijan took place. The memorandum was signed by director professor Karim Tahirov on the part of Azerbaijan, and director Misha Piro on the part of Albania.

Also, a round table on “Libraries in the modern era: a vision of the future” was held in the National Library of Azerbaijan. Around the round table, the possibilities of using new work forms and methods of modern libraries, quick satisfaction of readers’ needs, electronicization of printed products, the necessity of training a new generation of educated researchers in the library field, the importance of education development, etc. such issues were discussed.

Employees of the libraries of Albania, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, who came at the invitation of the National Library of Azerbaijan – “Heydar Aliyev Corner”, “Hall of International Cooperation”, “Rare Books and Library Museum” department, “Open Library”, Children’s section, reading room, library they got acquainted with the fund.
