CENL STATEMENT REGARDING RECENT TEL TWITTER ACTIVITY

It has come to CENL’s attention that a recent tweet on the dormant TEL  Twitter account makes misleading claims in relation to reviving the European Library.

The European Library – run by CENL and Europeana – was discontinued in 2017 and the webdomain and assets frozen since then. Some content was moved to and is discoverable via Europeana channels – for background information see this statement.

It appears that the domain www.theeuropeanlibrary.org has been purchased and is being used by an unrelated third party. CENL and Europeana are not involved in the activities run by this organisation and CENL is actively contacting them to ensure that such confusion is avoided in future.
