A very warm welcome and congratulations go to Dr John Scally, National Librarian and Chief Executive of the National Library of Scotland, who joins CENL today. This is a proud moment for the organisation, and we look forward to working with Dr Scally and his colleagues on many wide-ranging activities and events which bring the national libraries of Europe together. The National Library of Scotland is a national library in the United Kingdom and as such will be representing the UK together with the British Library on the CENL Board of Directors.

Dr Scally writes: “I am very pleased that our application to join CENL has been accepted by the membership. At the National Library of Scotland, we have had a long-held ambition to be part of CENL – and in one of the most difficult years for decades, we have arrived! We very much look forward to working with our national library colleagues from other leading European memory institutions to advance our collective mission.”

We are delighted to announce that Dr Scally will be attending this year’s CENL AGM online on 19 October, where members will have the opportunity to hear him introduce his library further. For more details about the National Library of Scotland, please see their CENL library page.
