The National Library of the Republic of Moldova located in Chişinău, Moldova is the main library of the state which is responsible for conservation, valorization and protection of written cultural heritage. The National Library operates according to the guiding principles of UNESCO referring to this type of libraries, it is part of the European Digital Library.
A total of 2.5 million documents in 30 languages represent the multimedia collection of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, including: manuscripts, printed materials, audio-visual documents, graphic documents, micro formats, electronic documents.
The National Library of the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova organized the annual regional conferences during May 28 – June 6, 2024 with the generic theme “The involvement of the libraries in supporting and achieving the National Development Strategy “European Moldova 2030”, which is based on UN Agenda 2030 and the Association Agreement with the EU.
