On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Vatroslav Lisinski, the exhibition Vatroslav Lisinski (1819-1854): the 200th anniversary of his birth, will open in the large lobby of the National and University Library in Zagreb on November 5, 2019 .
The exhibition aims to highlight the importance of the author’s oeuvre in the context of Croatian musical romanticism and the musical and overall Croatian heritage. The authors of the exhibition are Ph.D. Tatjana Mihalić, Head of the Music and Audio Collection at the National and University Library in Zagreb , and Ph.D. Irena Galić Bešker, Head of the Manuscripts and Old Books Collection of the National and University Library in Zagreb .
For the purposes of the exhibition from the Library’s collection, material has been prepared that, through its continuing importance, testifies to cultural, historical, sociological, as well as other factors in the development and formation of national identity. This selection includes original material – autographs or manuscript transcripts, documents and texts, and printed material – monographs, including libretto, sheet music and sound, visual material in the form of posters and illustrations, as well as texts and contributions published in periodicals.
