The National Library of Scotland hosted a symposium on AI and Machine Learning on Tuesday 25 April last. With the aim of exploring AI, culture and collections, the Library invited speakers from libraries, universities and creative industries. The event attracted a wide audience both in person and online and provided a stimulating environment to discuss and explore the impact of AI and Machine Learning not just for libraries but for society as a whole.

The Library was honoured to have Professor Sir Adrian Smith, Director and Chief Executive of the Turing Institute deliver the opening keynote, and later heard from Masud Khokhar, University Librarian and Keeper of the Brotherton Collection at the University of Leeds, and Christ van der Kuyl, entrepreneur and founder/owner and Chairman of 4J Studios, one of the UK’s most successful videogame developers.
