On 25 February 2021, valuable materials from the Library of the Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Zagreb, Department of Petrinja, were temporarily stored in the premises of the National and University Library in Zagreb. The Building of the Department, and thus the library space, suffered significant damage in the earthquake and until their restoration valuable materials will be protected and kept in the premises of the National and University Library in Zagreb. This valuable material, as well as other damaged materials from the library in Petrinja, will be restored in the Department of Protection and Storage of the National and University Library in Zagreb and then stored in safety.

The National and University Library in Zagreb has issued an invitation to all libraries damaged in the earthquake that for temporary storage of endangered materials can be contacted by consultants for certain types of libraries in the Croatian Library Institute, which, in cooperation with the Department of Protection and Storage, organized the reception and temporary placement of materials damaged in the earthquake at the National and University Library in Zagreb, in accordance with measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. Thus, damaged libraries and colleagues and fellow librarians are trying to provide concrete assistance and moral support in earthquake and pandemic crisis situations.
