The National Library of Portugal will focus its efforts on the 5th centenary of the birth of Luís de Camões in three main areas. Firstly, NLP will launch an online Camoniana, a database that will gather most of Camões’s work as well as general information about him in digital format. This will make Camões’s work more accessible to a larger audience. Secondly, The National Library will organise a significant exhibition to revisit Camões as a historical character. This exhibition will be divided into three sections. The opening is scheduled for June 10th, 2025. Lastly, the NLP will promote seminars, conferences, and publications focused on the study of Camões and his work.

The main goals of these celebrations and the work to be undertaken by The National Library include making Camões and his work better known, as well as more accessible, to a wider audience. This is to be done while fomenting the critical exploration of a body of work that has been read for over 500 years in multiple contexts, thus acquiring ever-new and diverse.
